Alma 29:9

I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

Week 3

Hey Family!

I LOVE YOU ALL! First of all- CONGRATS TO KYM AND JOE! I am so excited to have a new little nephew. My companions ooed and awwed at the picture. It sure was fun.

The Lord has blessed me so much. I have never ever ever been so tired, and happy. I just want to take a little itty bitty nap in the middle of the day, but the world does not stop spinning to accommodate my napping needs. On Sunday during Relief Society, we had Sister Cheryl Esplin- a councilor of the General Primary Presidency come to speak to us. There are General Authorities running around here all over the place. She gave a really cool talk about how to be filled with good things, ie: charity, hope, faith etc.. Then on Tuesday night for devotional, Elder David F Evans of the Seventy came to speak with us. His was all about repentance. He used a whole bunch of references from the Book of Mormon, which only strengthened my testimony that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that by living the things that it teaches will bring us closer to Christ.

Hermanas Grow and Ivie are doing well. We are finally figuring out how to work in this threesome. I sure do love them though. Our lessons that we've been teaching are definitely getting better. We got a chance to teach some Spanish speaking members for additional practice. One of the Ladies we talked to was from PERU and not only that, but TRUJILLO. We had a grand old time chatting with her. She said that she would be going back soon and that she would try to invite us over for dinner. Ha! So funny. Spanish and I are finally figuring out how to get along. Sure, it's tricky and can trip me up, but I heard some white Japanese Elders a couple of days ago trying to do a door approach and stumbling through it and vowed never to complain about Spanish ever again.

We got a new district in our Zone on Wednesday. It is a district of only 5 elders. I heard that three of them are going to Colombia, and I got a little concerned for them because I was under the impression that it was really dangerous right now. When I saw these elders, my fears were put to rest. They were huge, and really buff. It turns out that two of them were like cage fighters and the other was a boxer. I guess the Lord knows what he's doing.

Here's a funny story. So after gym all of the Hermanas in our district went home to get dressed again to meet the elders in our district to go study. But they never turned up. We decided to go on without them. About 50 minutes later, they showed up looking annoyed and disheveled. It turns out that after gym they all hopped into the shower. While they were in the shower the fire alarm went off. They thought it was a joke at first and ignored it until officials came in yelling for them to get out of the building. Some were just in towels when they left. Unfortunately a microwave had caught fire. But the flames were put out quickly and our elders were the first ones ushered back into the building because they were in towels. Poor little tykes.

I received the loveliest little package this week from Sister Hoagland. It was literally like Christmas came early because enclosed were some delicious little caramels. YUUUUUMMMMY!!!! I shared with my companions and they thought it was easily the best homemade caramels they'd ever tasted. That was just about the best pick-me-up that I could have wanted at that time. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Yesterday, I was with my class outside practicing some Spanish stuff when out of nowhere a little security rig screeches up to the curb. Inside was none other than Stephen. It was so fun. We spoke a very very small bit of Spanish to one another and chatted briefly before I had to get back to my study and He had to get back to work. (He looked like he was having a little bit too much fun driving around that little machine. (I have no way to describe it. It is like a glorified golf cart, but cooler and weirder at the same time).

I love learning more and more about the Gospel and I know more and more that it is true. I Love being a missionary and having the spirit with me all the time. I am learning so much. My teacher is going to get switched to a different class and I am really sad about it because I love her so much. But the Gospel is true either way. Teachings are going well and Spanish will be my best friend soon enough.

Love you all!

Hermana Christensen

We took this one on the first day. We were so excited to finally be missionaries so we took pictures of our missionary tags with our Spanish Preach my Gospel (Predicar mi Evangelio)

The first time we went to the temple together.

We tried to match each other. It was close, but it is really hard to match 3 completely different.

The second time we went to the temple. I just love my hermana compaƱeras
