Hey
fam,
I
love you all! Thank you for the lovely letters that I've received. I got the
strangest and craziest thing in the entire world this week. I open a package
that had been sent to me and amazingly enough, inside the box was not one, but
TWO pies. PIES!!!! One was peach and the other was berry. They were from Uncle
Gary and Aunt Diane. Totally made my day! IT WAS SO COOL! I shared with my
district and we were in heaven. It was so refreshing not to be eating MTC food
again. Everything is just peachy here at the good ol’ MTC. (Literally :D). I
finally saw the last of the cousins working here at the MTC. I was just going
out to the playing fields and there was Vaughn walking toward me. We couldn't
chat very long because he was on a mission to rescue some poor sisters who got
locked out of their room. I would laugh and scoff at those sisters, but the same
thing happened to us just two days earlier. We were pretty sympathetic. All the
times for everything have changed and so we got all new teachers and new
schedules. I really miss our old teachers, but our new ones are so wonderful. We
have Hermana Valdez (who served in FORT WORTH! But I think she got there right
after Fog left) and Hermano Clifford who served in Mississippi. They are super
great at teaching and bringing the Spirit to all of their lessons. I have
learned a whole bunch from them.
New
missionaries are coming to the MTC today! This is our favorite days of the week
to watch all the newbies hanging out here with their dork dots. (the term "dork
dot" is a reference to the bright orange dot on your nametag on your first day
to tell everyone to say hi to you and to be nice to you.) Our roommates left
this morning for their missions so we are expecting to get some new roommates.
The old ones were serving in Temple Square. I am super excited for them. So the
other day, one of my companions needed to use a phone to activate her debit card
so naturally we went to the front desk, which naturally means that I would be
running into someone related to me. It happened to be Corianne this time.
Anyway, we were just chatting while my companion was using the phone and I asked
Cori if she knew anything about visas. She said "nope, but let me call the
travel office and find out." Not wanting to be a bother, I said that I was just
curious and that it wasn't a big thing. But apparently they have the travel
office on speed dial because 2 seconds later she was connected to the travel
office and asked a few questions and then hung up. It turns out that if the visa
comes while I am here at the MTC, then I will be leaving in about 2-3 days from
the time of getting it. If it doesn't come while I’m here then I will likely be
reassigned as opposed to extending time here at the MTC. If/when I get it when
I'm there then I will finish out the transfer then head down. But it doesn't
really matter to me that much. I am just really excited to be able to serve the
Lord. On a side note, one of my friends from BYUI was going to Cuzco Peru. She
came for about 2 weeks and left yesterday because her visa came in. Obviously
the border is open somehow, but I will be where I need to be. Our zone doesn't
get a new district this week, which is kind of a bummer because we keep sending
districts out. right now in our branch we only have 3 districts. Sacrament
meeting is pretty desolate.
We
had a really cool opportunity in Relief Society this past Sunday. Sister Bonnie
L Oscarson newly appointed Young Women's General President spoke to us. It was
really special, because it was her first assignment as president. She did so
great and had so many cool things to say. She said that when she was sitting in
front of the first presidency when they were issuing her call that she flat out
said, "listen I will fulfill this calling to the best of my ability, but I have
no idea what I am doing!" To which, President Monson said, "Well of course you
wouldn't. You only just started " It was really sweet. She said some other
really neat insights about Jacob 5. I just ate them up.
Yesterday
our district decided to have an English Fast. It was so AWESOME!!! I didn't
realize that I knew so much Spanish until I couldn't speak any English. It was
really cool. I just really love Spanish and can't wait until I'm really good.
Sometimes we get to teach other members of the Church that come and volunteer
here. They speak Spanish and it is just so fun to be with real people and get to
know them in Spanish. OH that reminds me. The other day we had just finished at
the temple and I noticed one sister received a headset in Spanish. So after the
session I went up to her and started speaking to her. She was so excited to be
speaking Spanish. It was adorable. We chatted for like 20 minutes about all
sorts of things. I couldn't believe about how much I knew. She was from Honduras
and didn't know 6 words in English when she came and her precious companion is
Japaneese. She didn't know any English either. It was pretty funny watching them
try to communicate and so sad because it must have been so difficult for them.
They were both assigned to temple square. I think they'll be here for 2 more
weeks or so.
How
are Matt and Katie? Have they found a house yet? Is Kat cute and pregnant and is
it a boy or girl? What about Joe and Kym? Did they get their house? How's my new
nephew Bridger? I hope everything is going good on the farm. I heard that there
has been some crazy frost and stuff. Hopefully the beets are alright. Mom, I
hope you have been conquering the world on your injured knee. Just don't do
anything too crazy. Terry sounds like he's a running machine. Good for you!
Harry- keep being awesome and kick some tennis trash.
I
love you all bunches and bunches
¡les
amo!
Hermana
