Alma 29:9

I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

Week 6 from the MTC

Hola familia!

All's well here at the old Provo MTC. Still just waiting for news about visa and/or reassignment. I had heard that we should have gotten them yesterday, but now I hear that it will likely be tomorrow. But that is just fine. Still wait on a phone call from me hopefully this week sometime. It is like waiting for a mission call all over again! Crazy times. But at least I can focus on working hard here to prepare for wherever the Lord decides to put me. I will be right where I am needed to be. It's not my mission after all :).

Momma- Happy Mother's day. We walked up to the temple that day and there was a whole bunch of mommas with little kids there just enjoying a Sunday at the temple. If I was close enough to any of them I wished them a Happy Mother's day. It was fun. I am really excited that you don't have too many more days of school left. That stinks that you have to do the court thing again for another kid. But I'm glad that your principle is being really nice about everything. I think you deserve a nice long break. Maybe fly up to Cali or something. Yeah that sounds great! Oh wait! you already are! That will be a relief to not have to worry about your kids anymore for a while. Bridger sounds like he's just the cutest little baby in the whole world. He gets it from my side of the family. Those pics that you sent me were so darn precious. I just ate them up. Tractor ride with Mckay. Presh. Dale I'm glad that you've got a nice little deal with Lance going on. That should take a little bit of the pressure off of the water problems but it stinks about what happened to the well on BD. The crops sound like they're coming along well. I got a letter from Tommy Boy today. It was nice to know that he wasn't dead yet from working too hard. Good work Dale you're the best boss ever! I wish I could be there now to see the fields and spend some time working in the tractor cultivating or furrowing. Some days I go to bed feeling like I have been digging corrugates all day. Thank goodness for all of the practice. That was really good for me. I hope that Matt and Kat's house thing can work out. OH, and congrats on the news! woot woot 3 nephews being born while I am on a mission. I love it so much. The Lord has really blessed me while I am here.

We have been so luck here! On Sunday in Relief Society we had a guest speaker. None other than Janice Kapp Perry. It was so awesome. I knew that she was like a legend and that I love her music, but what I didn't realize that my testimony was built on some of her primary songs. Namely, "I love to see the temple", "I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ" "A Child's prayer" and about 8 others. And also "as Sisters in Zion". Well, she just finished writing more lyrics to that song which she has entitled "the sisters IN Zion". It is all about sister missionaries. She put up the lyrics and we all sang it together. It was BEAUTIFUL. There wasn't a dry eye in the entire place. We were the first ones to be able to sing that song. Wow we're lucky. She's putting out a new album next month that is all about sister missionaries. Apparently it is just going to be super awesome. I went up and chatted with her for a moment after relief society. She had been on a mission in Chile and knew Spanish, so i spoke to her in Spanish. Yeah, I talked with Janice Kapp Perry in Spanish. What is the world coming to?

The next thing was that night we watched a video of a devotional with Elder Holland. Wow. I felt so spiritually uplifted. He shared a beautiful little poem with us.

"Come to the edge" he said
"No, I'll fall."
"Come to the edge" he said
"No, I'll fall."
"Come to the edge" he said
so I came to the edge. And he pushed me.....
Then, I flew.

It came to the fact that we need to be in a place where the Lord can push us. We need to be in a place where we can see miracles. The next thing he said was in Mosiah 27:11. After reading that he said simply, "ASTONISH PEOPLE. Get your power and authority up and running then act like you're a servant of God." I am so happy to be a missionary for the Church.

Then the next coolest thing happened yesterday. We went into devotional and the speaker of that day was none other than Russell M. Nelson. WHAT?! This place is crawling with amazing people!!!! He and his wife said amazing things. They talked about the importance of Family History work in Missionary work. He said that our ancestors and investigator's ancestors are working together to help an investigator understand how important the Gospel is. They want their work done as well. When you convert someone, you are the link between them and their ancestors who also need their work done. Something else that was said that I should pray fro help from angels to be around me. I should pray for them by name and by attribute. That they might be with me when I teach. Wow! I never thought about any of this stuff before. One other thing that he mentioned was that first ask someone for their name. If you don't hear it the first time ask again. If you don't understand then ask them to spell it for you. Then ask where it is from and get into who they are and where they are from. And do the same for myself. To share my name and where I am from. Interesting right? He promised me all kinds of blessings from those instructions, so I had better try the virtue of the word of God.

Spanish is coming along great. It is hard, sure, but I understand almost everything right now. I just have a hard time figuring out how to say stuff. Don't worry, it doesn't usually keep me too quiet. I try real hard to get my point across and to answer questions to my investigators.

I gave a talk in church about 3 weeks ago in Spanish. It was super scary but I think it went pretty well. It was on the Book of Mormon (thank goodness). I love talking about the Book of Mormon. The Gospel is so true and so applicable to everyone. I have been saying my prayers only in Spanish ever since I got here. I'm glad that Heavenly Father understands the desires of my heart because I am sure that my Spanish is not all that pretty right now. But I am glad to be here learning a new language to teach to whoever needs the saving words of life. I love you all so much.

Les Quiero
