Felicitaciones para mí bonita hermana y su familia! Qué bendicion para
recibir una nueva bebé en la familia. Es una buen cosa que estoy en una
biblioteca porque yo estaría saltando y gritando.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED the pictures of my new little nephew Hyrum ♥ Gosh he
sure is cute! I am so sososososo excited that everything went well and that
things are settling down. Send Weston my greeting and love. That is really
exciting that he is headed off for the Marines. Glad to hear that the wheat is
all done. Check that off the list of things to do :)
What a week. Wow. I will admit that I am glad that that one is over, but it
was a wonderful time to learn and grow.
One of the really cool things that I did this week was I gave out my first
(and likely only) Arabic Book of Mormon. One of the members in our ward has an
Arabic Roommate who is about our age. She is very very sweet and really wants to
have friends. She hardly speaks any English at all so I requested from the Zone
Leaders an Arabic BOM for her. When I gave it to her she was SO happy! Her face
just lit up and was so excited to read it. She told us that she would definitely
read it very soon because she loves to read. We are really excited to see her
again, but the problem is that she doesnt really understand enough English to be
taught so we are a little unsure of how to proceed.
This week as well the Bishop of our ward asked us to help one of the
members write her first talk to give in sacrament meeting. She is preparing to
go to the temple. She was baptized about 5 years ago. She was super duper
nervouos so we just helped her walk through it step by step. The problem was she
would offer two different ways to say something and asked which would be better
and I just kind of prayed that the Spirit would guide me and my companions in
helping her because they sounded pretty darn similar to me. Hopefully we taught
her well. We helped her find scriptures and stories and stuff. She gave it on
Sunday and I think she did great. (not that I am biaased or anything :))
We also had interviews with President Riggs. My mission president is the
coolest. He is so inspired and always knows just the right things to say. I
always feel tougher after he gives me a good ol pep talk. There are two trios of
sisters so he "threatened" to bust up our companionships and make a new area in
Bella Vista. Wow. that would make 10 missionaries in this one ward. So stay
tunned to see what happens with that.
The other cool thing was that as we were tracting the other day, we
accidentally ran into other missionaries.... the Jehova's Witness type. They
were so excited to talk to us and teach us about religion. We just let them talk
at us for about 3 minutes. They gave us a lovely little pamphlet about Christ
and then we took our three minutes and gave them a lovlier little pamphlet about
the Restoration. It was quite the Experience. I got preached at ... IN SPANISH
and it was AWESOME. It was sad to read some of the things in their pamphets
though. They were all about the end of the world and how scary it is going to
be. I am so greatful that we bring a message of hope for the future and of joy
with families forever.
I cleaned my first gutter this week for a woman in our ward who is hugely
pregnant. She made us a delicious meal for it, but it was probably the single
grossest thing I have ever done. There were sooooo many milipeeds and Centipeeds
and slugs and creepy crawlies and worms and icky things in those gutters. But
fun anyway :)
Well, I think that we are headed off to Washington DC this afternoon for
the rest of Pday. That should be exciting. I love you all!
