Alma 29:9

I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

Farm Kid Among the City Folks

Hola Familia~!

10 extra credit points for Dan and Claire for writing me 2 times this week. I LOVED the pictures from the little kids. Those are sooooo awesome. Mom- what on Earth do you think you are doing swimming around like a teenager :). Black rock sure looks like fun, as usual. That is definitely one of my favorite places to go camping. I'll bet the fishing was stinky as usual, but it is still fun anyway. Dale, you and Uncle sure are cute out there harvesting the wheat. I am just glad that we have a wheat harvest without all the wheat getting burned up. That is always a good thing. Brooks and Granite sure are troopers out there topping corn. I was trying to explain why we top corn to a woman in spanish- but I ended up just telling her in English, which she understood waaaaay better in English than my failed attempts in Spanish. She asked ME about it. It was actually kind of funny I mentioned that I was from Idaho and she asked me if I lived on a "granja". To which I said yes. Then she asked me why we are mean to the corn plants to pull off their tassels..... hmmmm. I have no idea how she learned about that in the first place, but I am just glad I didn't have to get into branding cows and stuff. Well just another day being a farm kid amongst the city folk (yes even amongst the hispanic city folk). Buggy is having a baby! I just want to know the name real bad. I am praying like crazy for them because it is Pday and I can think about my family a little more today. I love you guys! and Congrats! Oh and mom, I am sorry, I forgot to tell you but I did get the package a few weeks ago and I LOVED it so much.  Thank you thank you thank you!

Last week we got to go to Arlington Cemetery. That was definitely awesome. We only had a little over an hour to see all of it, but we treked up those crazy "mountains" (people here are a little confused about what a "mountain" is. Here they just have cute little hills.) and got a good chunk of it. It was really interesting being a tourist/missionary. I know that we are not supposed to look like tourists, but it was really really tough not to. Occasionally an obviously Mormon family would walk past us and say "Hi Sisters!" and some other people would walk past and whisper to each other "psssst those are the Mormon missionaries". odd, but awesome. I was always jealous of the Indians because people know exactly what their culture and beliefs were just by looking at their clothing. I didn't realize that I had that same effect. It was kind of cool. We chatted with some people about the Church, but we could have definitely been a little bolder in sharing. So NEXT week we are planning on going to Washington DC (as in downtown), so we know how we need to be acting when we go there next week.

We had exchanges this week and they were SO AWESOME! I went to Alexandria this time. We went on exchanges with the Sister Training leaders. We also had an additional 5 hours of training from them as requested by the mission president. But the best part about it was seeing the way that the sister training leader that I was with (Her name is Hermana Dopp) carried herself around the members and investigators. She was so confident and totally knew her role in helping others come unto Christ and completely solid in her Spanish. It was cool to kind of catch that vision at this point so that I could see my potential.

It has been so hot and so humid here this past week. Insanely hot and humid. We are talking like 100 degrees with 88% humidity. We were given a severe weather warning for the heat. Luckily everyone here knows how miserable it is to be outside so they are really willing to let us into their houses to cool off. It is also a golden opportunity to share the Gospel! I love being a missionary and can do that kind of thing every single day. But for our physical well-being, luckily I hear that the high temperature this week will be about 80. Relief-

Spanish is coming along. I get better every day. Granted- I am still not awesome, but I really enjoy speaking to people, especially to the members who are a little more patient with me.

Send Noelle my love and congrats. I wish I could have known about the wedding a little sooner so I could send her a card, but I am so so happy for her. That is so exciting.

Love Hermana Christensen
