Mom, that was the sweetest letter. Thanks a bunch. You sure are working
hard (as usual). I am sure that Tom knew the exact type of cookies that you
should make and that he had a few of those cookies for himself. Congrats on the
new computer. That is so Rad. Good for you. Terry- Way to tackle. Tacos- you
punk, since when were you so cool? oh wait, since forever! You're so great. I
just want to play with Carter and Corbin and Hyrum and Bridger. How fun for all
of those little boys. On a side note, my companion in Washington DC emailed me
and told me that she got her visa! That was really exciting for me.
There was a couple of rough days here in La Rincondada this week. I had the
WORST stomachache that I think I can recall. I am sure that it was something
that I ate, but I was down for a whole day puking and trying to sleep it off. I
woke up the next morning with tons of energy and ready to take on the world. My
pensionista was freaking out that I was going to be sick forever and so she has
confined me to eating nothing but soup for 3 days. humph. When I was really sick
she came into our room with a couple of eggs in her hand and asked if she could
put the egg all over my face and neck and that it would surely help me. I
declined. She was so sad that I didn't want to try her method to get better. I
didn't want to tell her that in the United States there is something called Sal
Manilla, and it is BAD, and it has to do with raw eggs. The next morning she had
a bowl of the WORST smelling soup I have ever seen or smelled. She declared that
it was for me and that they always eat it when they have a stomachache. It is
made with rotten potatoes. Gross. But she was so sad the day before when I
refused her egg bath so I gave the soup a try. It actually didn't taste too bad,
but the smell was so foul that I couldn't do more than 2 or 3 bites. The Zone
leaders called me and said that they had something that they were sure would
cure me. I was a little hesitant because of my rotten potato and raw egg
experience. They brought over a bottle of Ginger Ale and Saltine crackers. I am
glad to know that some cures are normal, universal and effective. Immediate I
felt better.
I am doing well now and am working real hard. We had transfers yesterday,
but I am still here in the beautiful land of Rinconada for at least one change
more with Hermana Martinez. We are excited to be staying here for a while
longer. There is a less active family in our ward that we have really been
working with a lot this past couple of weeks. they are so dear to us and we just
love visiting them. I feel very at home with them. They always try to talk to me
in English, but it is pretty pathetic. I love it anyway :) They ask me about
algunos tv shows that they watch regularly. One is Prison Break. All I could
think of was Cole Christensen and the rest of the Cottonwood tribe. They also
like the Walking Dead and Dragonball Z. Hahahaha. How funny. We have been
helping them make a plan to come back to church and read all of the Book of
Mormon together as a family. They have all been members for most of their lives,
but haven´t read the Book of Mormon so we are doing just about everything that
we can to help them get r done.
We taught lots of lessons and have the greatest support from our Young
Women. Many of them are planning on going on missions and they are all too
willing to come out with us. They are just so full of the spirit and have the
greatest testimonies. I love them so much.
The work is progressing and I love being a Missionary. The church is true
and I love you All!!!!
