Feliz año out in the mission. A whole ton of things have happened
in this year. I cant have imagined doing anything different with this
year than to be out on the mission. What an amazing blessing.
So I wanted to be exactally obedient to what Elder Ballard told us
in General Conference about sharing what we (meaning I as a missionary)
are learning in Preach my Gospel. I had a nice little thing written up
to tell you, but forgot to put it into the
email, so I am repenting now and sending you some thing that I learned
this week from Preach my Gospel.
I was reading in the first chapter about the authority of my call
under a title about how people will recognize us as servants of God.
There were a few bullet points but one of them that really impacted me
was one that says ( this is a Spanish translation
BTW) When we express our love for God, the love for our Family and love
for the people we are teaching, people will recognize us as servants of
God with authority. So this week I have been doing my best to express
love for God, my family and for our investigators.
It has really been spiritually rewarding.
We had a pretty cool experience the other day. First of all, I love
working right next to the temple which is still in construction. It is
so cool when people ask us about that huge white Mormon building and
testify of the work of the temple and of eternal
families. it is beautiful. Anyway we were walking in front of the temple
and we noticed a huge group of people gathered out front. We thought
they were protesters so we tried to keep our distance, but then they
yelled out "HERMANAS" It turns out that they were
a ward from Chimbote about 2 hours away who had driven all the way up
here for the morning to see the construction on the temple. It was so
cool. They opened up the big blue gates a tiny bit so that one by one
they could all get a look at the temple. We took
a pic with them. It was so amazing to see their faith and how excited
they were to be able to see the temple. As they were leaving I noticed a
little hermanita in a wheel chair that they were wheeling in the
gravel. She was probably 85 or so and blind. I asked
one Hermana why this hermanita wanted to come if she couldn't even see
the temple and how difficult the ride would be, but she told me that
this little hermanita wouldn't be left behind and that she wanted to
feel the spirit here and to hear how others were
reacting to the temple. What a testimony builder. I loved it so much.
Sorry, I kind of ran out of time. Hermana Watkins told me Vanessa got permission to be baptized! What a miracle. I love you all
Keep up the faith.
